cordillera huayhuash » |
|
 |
 |
This trek is
considered as the gold route and is only
50 kilometers to the Southeastern of the
Parque Nacional Huascaran located in the
Cordillera Huayhuash. Although the chain
has an extension of only 30 kilometers
from north to south, and consists of little
more of long crest, it has many snow-covered
mountains very impressive with almost
vertical walls through all its sides dominated
by the colossal Yerupajá (6634
m.) the second highest mountain in Peru,
surpassed only by the Huascaran.
A long walk from 160 to 180 kilometers
starts in the town of Chiquián,
it descends along the small farms towards
the Pativilca River and it surrounds the
entire Cordillera. This long walk of ten
to fifteen days is arduous but the lakes
and streams are beautiful and the views
of the huge white walls are simply unforgettable.
The lakes and mountains of the Cordillera
Huayhuash do not belong to the National
Reserve.
