This trek is
about the cultural value within the Cordillera
Blanca, Chavín, territory where
the old Incas lived. The entire city is
surrounded by the presence of the ruins
of Chavín that attract thousands
of tourists every year. This archaeological
monument is one of the most important
in Peru. It is characterized by its stone
sculptures that display human heads and
its streamlined engravings (plates). The
temple, since it is a construction with
religious aims, was constructed in coincidence
with the lunar cycle. A network of low
underground galleries leads to several
rooms where the “Lanzón de
Chavín” can be admired, a
granite statue of 4.53 meters in height,
the idol of the temple.
